Most of you probably remember when I posted Don’t Forget the Sexy, if not read it here. Well I got to thinking about it and decided that some of you probably don’t know where to start and that you are also on a tight budget. So I thought what better way to help you get that sexy back than having my girl Kelly over at Beauty Obsessed come by and share some beauty and make up tips. So Kelly what can you tell us to help get that spark back into our overall look? And don’t you dare hold out on us!
Hi Ladies!!!
I hope you enjoy this post and try some of these tips to help you feel sexy again.
I figured I would list some tips from makeup to nail care, skincare, etc.
MAKEUP:
If you feel pressed for time in the morning and don’t have time for a full makeup application, try this instead:
- If you don’t need foundation then don’t bother, a good cream concealer is key and will save time to cover up any imperfections you think you have.
- If you do wear foundation, try using a cream to powder formula, it’s very easy and quick to apply.
- If you want some color, try a cream blush that you can also use as a lip tint and eye shadow.
- Curl your eye lashes and apply one coat of mascara.
You’ll save some time and still look great and put together.
If you don’t have time or don’t prefer to wear any makeup, that’s fine too. I would say if you can at least squeeze in a minute to curl your lashes and apply a coat of mascara, eyes that look tired will now look bigger and brighter.
NAILS:
Keep your nails short (there easier to work with)
Soak your nails for 2 minutes in warm water and lemon juice
Wash your nails with a nail brush to get any dirt out
Apply a clear coat of nail polish, you wont have to worry about chipped nails.
To keep your nails looking polished, apply a clear top coat once a day.
SKIN:
-Exfoliating is extremely important for your face and body. I’m going to share with you a Homemade Lemon Facial that I learned a while ago. I guarantee you guys will love this.
WHY THIS WORKS:
Lemons are an excellent source of Vitamin B6, iron and potassium, and a really good source of Vitamin C. They are also a source of bioflavonoids which protect against damage caused free radicals. They are also a natural exfoliate and will help remove dead skills and reveal brighter skin. So when you pair lemons (or lemon juice) with sugar (which is another great natural exfoliate) it creates a really super face scrub!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Lemons or Lemon Juice (organic is great but you can also use concentrated juice, works just as good)
- Sugar
-Cotton rounds
HOW TO USE IT:
- Pour some lemon juice on your cotton pad
- Sprinkle a tiny bit of sugar on top
- Wet face with warm water and in circular motions, scrub away for about 2 minutes then rinse well! *Oh and its okay if you get some in your mouth because it taste like lemonade, yum!
*NOTE: Remember lemons have acid, so if you have sensitive skin and it feels too harsh, try diluting it with some water.
You should try to exfoliate your skin at least 2-3 times a week; I’ve been using this scrub for at least 6 months, 3 times a week and I honestly have noticed such a difference. I have some past acne scars and a few sun spots from using tanning beds and laying out in the sun way too often and I finally started to notice the results of this on my skin. However, every time I use this my skin looks brighter, it feels smoother and I’ve also noticed that my moisturizer goes on smoother and doesn’t feel like its just sitting on top of my skin. This scrub is genius, you could probably go out and by a $100 scrub that does the same as this lemon scrub that costs nothing.
I would never recommend anything I haven’t tried on myself first and I definitely think you will be very pleased if you try this.
FOR YOUR BODY:
You can make your own body scrub with some regular or brown sugar and a few teaspoons of olive oil. Use that in the shower to get rid of all your dead skin cells.
HAIR:
I’m sure a lot of you with medium to long hair like to just pull it back and get it out of your face, I do that a lot. There’s a bunch of quick and simple ways to have your hair pulled back while looking sexy and fun at the same time.
1. Brush your hair into a ponytail (doesn’t matter how high or low) then taking a small strip of hair wrap it all the way around so it hides the ponytail holder then use a bobby pin to place it underneath where it’s not visible.
*If you want to take it to the next level, take a curling iron and add curls to the ponytail. You can leave the curls in back or pull them forward to lay on your shoulders. This will only take a few minutes yet it will look like you put some time and effort into it.
2. This is actually a braid that’s very in right now and also easy to do. I did a post on my blog called “How to get the Messy Side Braid” . Here’s the link if you want to check it out. *Note: This works on medium to long hair, you could always get extensions if you really wanted to, but to me that seems like too much, for me anyway
3. The high bun is a hairstyle that I wear a lot because it literally takes me 5 minutes and looks cute at the same time. This works for any type of hair, curly to frizzy to pin straight. This is so great for the days you know your hair needs to be washed but just don’t have the time. Here’s how:
1. Using a 1 inch barrel curling iron, quickly curl all your hair under. This helps to tuck the pieces in so there not sticking out. If you have wavy or curly hair you can skip this step.
2. Flip hair over and gather into a high ponytail, secure with an elastic
3. Really quick, backcomb/tease hair to create some volume
4. Twist the hair and wrap around the base creating a bun
5. Insert bobby pins along the base of the bun securing it to your head. Use as many as you need to make sure its not flopping around.
6. Then take some hairspray and spray all around the head, smooth down any fly always.
That’s it! Remember, this isn’t intended to look perfect. They also call it the messy bun too. So don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect.
For you ladies that are looking for a change, go to the salon and try a sassy shorter cut that’s easy to maintain. Or try some highlights for a bold (not too bold) pick me up. Or if you’re not up for a change, just get a good trim to keep your locks healthy and try a deep conditioning treatment. Here’s a deep conditioning treatment you can make right in your kitchen. This is for all hair types:
BANANNA AVACADO HAIR MASK
I know, it doesn’t sound appetizing at all but it’s okay because it’s great for your hair. Avocado’s are full of nutrients such as Vitamin C to improve circulation and act as a protective antioxidant for hair follicles, essential fatty acids to improve texture and treat dry hair and different antioxidants. Banana’s improve manageability and shine while moisturizing your scalp and preventing dandruff. They are known for strengthening and giving volume. Honey is a humectant; it attracts and holds moisture, this makes it a great choice for dry and damaged hair. Olive oil had Vitamins A and E which help moisturize and repair shine.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- 1 medium banana
-1 egg
-1/2 avocado
-2 Tbsp. Honey
-3 Tbsp. Olive Oil
-Mash banana, avocado and egg in a small bowl
- Add remaining ingredients and stir until well combined
-Apply to dry hair from roots to tips
-Leave in for 30 minutes, you might want to put it all up on top of your head then cover with an old shower cap or some plastic wrap.
-Then wash out really well and follow with your normal shampoo and conditioner.
You should notice the difference in how your hair feels as soon as you get out of the shower and you’ll really love how soft, shiny and manageable your hair is.
You can use this recipe twice a month to maintain healthy hair.
FASHION & STYLE:
If you’ve gotten into the habit of wearing sweat pants and shirts, comfy yes, sexy, not too much. All you really need is a few items in your closet to make a big difference.
- A slim/fit black jacket will glam up just about anything, including your favorite pair of jeans. maybe a pair of flats, with a sleek bag. (no diaper bags) lol.
- Accessories can make an outfit go from boring to hot! I’ve found some really cool Vintage earrings, rings, necklaces and bracelets at consignment shops or good will stores. That’s the fun part about putting together an outfit for under $20 and no one would even realize it. Bargain shopping and having a few items that you can pretty much mix and match with anything and that make you feel sexy everytime you wear them.
Now of course we know beauty is only skin deep so you have to also have confidence to feel sexy. With your confidence and taking a few extra minutes for you time while getting a little creative with your beauty routine as well as adding a little extra into your style. You will all feel like the hot mommies you are!!!!
