I know you think I’m crazy but just keep reading.
Football is power!!! Use it to your advantage.

I have been a crazed football wife from the very beginning. Why? Because it is power in knowing football.

So I imagine you are on the edge of your seat wondering how to use it to your advantage so let’s get to it! I have 3 tips I am sharing today.

1. Learn the game of football. At least the basics, I would highly recommend reading Football for Dummies. Many women don’t enjoy football because they are clueless about it and their husbands don’t want to tutor them. Now just imagine when you sit down on the couch beside your husband and chime in to what is going on. +1 for you!

Note: remember game time is not a question & answer session. If you aren’t sure remain quiet until the commercial or a time out. Just trust me on this.

2. I know this might go against everything but you must watch ESPN for at least 15 mins or read the headlines on their site here.

You have to be in the know. Be aware of the hot topics regarding football. It can be overwhelming at first so narrow it down to college, NFL, or just his favorite team. I know you all love blogs so follow the team blogs.

Now your mate doesn’t want to hear you give the run down when he walks in the door, but next time the guys are talking and you add your insight based on your research. +1 for you!

3. Last take him to a game. I recommend you implement this step after steps 1 and 2, otherwise he’ll mysteriously lose your ticket and his friend will appear in your seat at the game.
Coming up with the perfect idea of going to a game. +1 for you!

Now this is one example of how to cash in on those points.

We always want to talk to our husbands (significant other) and don’t feel like he wants to always engage in our conversations about reality TV, soaps, the to do list, etc. However, if you start talking football…..watch out! You have just won the jackpot on open communication with your spouse. You have his full attention, he is listening and engaging in the conversation.

NOW is the time to sneak in a few things you have been waiting your entire marriage to tell him. Do it quick! If he side tracks, switch back to football. Wait until he is fully engaged again, now Go For It!!!

If he side tracks again, that is okay. End with football and move on. Try again another day. If you get 5 minutes, consider yourself a winner.

Do you cringe at the thought of football season? Or are you a crazed football wife like me? If you have a favorite team tell me about them, we might be on the same side.
